Boat Service Software AYM Karina: Our Technical Service App Is Coming Soon
Introducing AYM Karina, the desktop software we are building for technical service workshops: service files, work orders, stock, quotes and a photo archive on one screen.

AYM Karina is desktop software for technical service workshops that we are building and will release soon. It brings customer and boat records, service files, work orders, planning, stock, quotes and a photo archive together in one application. The first version's screens were designed with boat and yacht maintenance and repair services in mind: the dashboard shows the number of boats as its own counter, and the quick actions include a “new boat” record. This article explains why we built Karina, what the screens shown so far contain and how to stay informed until launch. The release date and pricing are not final yet; we will announce them once they are.
Why we built a technical service app
AYM Flow has been building websites and software for years, and a large share of our references are yacht and marine businesses in and around Bodrum. Working with them, we saw the same picture again and again: service requests arrive by phone and messaging apps, work orders are written on paper, spare parts are tracked in a spreadsheet, and before-and-after photos stay on technicians' phones. Finding out what maintenance a boat had last season means calling several people. Karina was born to gather that scattered information around a single service file.
It is not our only product, either. We build our own software products: our multilingual WordPress plugin AYM Multilingual and our live scoring software for sports venues, Multi Score Screen. Karina will be the third member of this family and the first designed as a desktop application.
What the first screens show
The first screenshot we published shows the dashboard. At the top, summary cards show the number of planned, in-progress and completed jobs, plus customer and boat counts. The left menu contains management, my jobs, customers, plan, stock, quotes and settings. From the quick actions area you can start the following with one click:
- New customer, new contact and new boat records
- Opening a service file and creating a new work order
- Access to the photo archive
- Departments and rates
- Company information and user management
Service files are listed with a year-based number (for example SRV-2026-0001); each file shows a summary of the job, the customer and boat, and its status, and it can be printed directly. The records in the screenshot are sample data for the demo.
Who is it designed for?
The first version was shaped around boat and yacht maintenance and repair services, technical workshops in marinas and service businesses working with several departments, such as engines, electrics or paint. Department and rate definitions exist so different teams can work on the same service file. The flow of service files, work orders, stock and quotes, however, is common to other technical services too, from electronics and appliance repair to machinery. We explain what to look for in technical service software in general in our repair shop software guide.
Why desktop software?
What boat services need in particular
Boat and yacht services work to a different rhythm from a typical workshop. The workload is seasonal: boats come out of the water in autumn and winterisation begins, and in spring everyone wants pre-season preparation at the same time. At that pace, seeing at a glance which boat is at which stage, which part is awaited and which team is working where becomes critical; one of the sample service files in the screenshot reflects exactly this, a full overhaul after winter storage. Owners also often live far from the boat, sometimes in another country, and want to see its condition in photos, review quotes remotely and know how far the work has got. Several departments, such as engines, electrics, paint and joinery, may work on one boat at once, which is why department-based rates are needed to cost the job correctly.
What you can do before Karina arrives
Whatever software you use, a little preparation does half the work of moving to digital service tracking. Gather your customer and boat lists in one table and clean out duplicates. Decide how service files will be numbered and which departments and hourly rates you work with. Agree with your technicians which photos are taken on every job: before, during part replacement and after. These steps make the switch to any new system much shorter and smoother.
Why desktop software?
In technical services, software usually runs all day on a computer in the workshop or office. Fast data entry, working directly with printers and label printers and keyboard-heavy use make desktop applications strong in this scenario. We cover the general criteria for choosing between desktop and web in our article on desktop app vs web app. We will share Karina's technical details, supported systems and data backup approach at launch.
Where Karina fits in the service process
When a boat comes in, the job starts with the customer and boat records. A service file is opened, the work is split into work orders, the parts needed are taken from stock, a quote goes to the customer and the file is closed when the work is done. The photo archive documents the before and after and lets you share it with the customer. Keeping every step in one file means that even months later, “what was last done on this boat?” is answered in seconds. You will find the general principles of stock and work order management in our barcode inventory and work orders article.
Stay informed about the launch
If you would like to be among Karina's first users, share your workshop's needs or request a demo, get in touch. The feedback we collect before launch will directly shape the priorities of the first version.
